How much continuing professional education a Alaska CPA actually needs — sourced the same way every fact on this site is: a board page plus the codified rule itself, never a guess.
Alaska CPAs complete 80 CPE hours per biennial (2-year) licensing period, with at least 20 hours completed in each of the two years, including at least 4 hours of ethics somewhere in the 2-year period (no state-specific ethics course is mandated by regulation -- AICPA Ethics, Circular 230 Ethics, or Behavioral Ethics all qualify). No more than 10 of the 80 hours may come from micro-learning (activities under one hour). Renewal is biennial, due Dec 31 of odd-numbered years. Effective for licensing periods beginning on/after Jan 1, 2026, no more than 12 CPE hours may be earned in a single day. Verified against the full official 'Statutes and Regulations - Public Accountancy' compilation published by the Alaska Division of Corporations, Business and Professional Licensing (Jan 2026 edition, containing the complete text of 12 AAC 04.300) and the Board's own December 2025 licensee update flyer, which independently restate the identical 80/20/4-hour figures.
