Maryland CPA License Reinstatement: What a Lapsed License Costs
If your Maryland CPA license has already lapsed
What it actually takes to get a lapsed Maryland CPA license back —
the fee, the catch-up CPE, and exactly what triggers "lapsed" in the first place. Sourced the same
way every fact on this site is: a board page plus the codified rule itself, never a guess.

Reinstatement Fee
$126
Double the standard $63 renewal fee (COMAR 09.24.01.09.B(9)/(4)). Charged as soon as the license's 2-year expiration date passes; the Board's FAQ states it currently cannot be waived.
Catch-Up CPE Required
- 80 CPE hours Same standard 80-hour/2-year total as ordinary renewal, not an extra amount -- the catch is timing: those 80 hours must be earned within 2 years of the reinstatement application date (COMAR 09.24.02.05.A) and can't also be counted toward the next renewal cycle.
- 4 ethics hours, within that total.

What triggers lapsed status: Not renewed by the license's fixed 2-year expiration date. No statutory outer time limit was found after which reinstatement becomes unavailable.

statute or administrative rule, not just a board webpage — if we can't verify a date against
primary law, we say so instead of guessing (

deadline). Always confirm with the
official state board before relying on this date. License
requirements and deadlines can change.
